The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has published IS 1893 (Part 1): 2025, wherein the earthquake zoning of the country has been updated. As per the revised standard, the entire geographical area of India has now been categorized into five seismic zones, namely Zone II, Zone III, Zone IV, Zone V, and Zone VI.
In view of the above update, the Earthquake Hazard Maps included in the Vulnerability Atlas of India are currently under revision and updation.
